We know the pain of looking at yourself and seeing the red, patchy and bumpy skin! The irritation is unbearable and the itchiness is inescapable. Hot sunny weather and humidity tends to be the cause of flare ups and irritations for people with eczema!
Here are our 3 Tips for Treating Eczema in Hot Summer Weather!
1. KEEP THE AREA CLEAN USING WET WIPES!!
As our bodies sweat we release certain chemicals that cause a trigger to our body to start itching in order to release the irritation. Using wipes will remove the chemical and relieve the feeling of needing to itch!
2. CREATE A BARRIER OVER THE SKIN!
Apply a nourishing lotion to create a barrier on the skin. Through sweating our body loses a significant amount of water, resulting in dryness and the need to itch. Creating a barrier using a lotion that contains water attracting properties will replenish the skin of its lost water and natural oils.
3. FOLLOW A NIGHT RITUAL FOR REPAIRING SKIN WHILE YOU SLEEP!
It’s the long term rituals that create long term effects! Skin heals the best while you're sleeping. Maintaining a night ritual helps prevent recurring flare ups and keeps your skin clear for the long haul.
- Gentle Cleansing Soap - use low foam soap that's fragrance free
- Sea Salt Baths - kill bacteria and adjust pH levels, which reduce itching
- Treatment Butter - rich in active ingredients for cell repair and growth
There isn't a quick fix to curing Eczema or Dermatitis because it can be triggered from different factors like diet, humidity, soap detergents, and more. But there is a way of preventing a flare up from staying active and causing long term suffering.
The above steps help to calm a trigger and maintain the skins pH level in order for the trigger to subside and go away. Look forward to our next post that explains more on what these triggers are and how to deal with them!
